About the event

Neuroscientist Mark Gluck is a leading authority on how the human brain changes with age, and what we all can, and should, do to help prevent Alzheimer’s disease. He will explain how and why you should start taking Six Steps to Brain Health. In addition, he will share highlights of what he and his colleagues at Rutgers University have learned about the neuroscience of Alzheimer’s prevention and healthy aging.

Mark Gluck is Professor of Neuroscience and Public Health at Rutgers, and is the Director of the Aging & Brain Health Alliance. A graduate of Harvard (B.A.) and Stanford (Ph.D.), his research focuses on the cognitive, computational, and neural bases of learning and memory; the consequences of memory loss due to aging and Alzheimer’s disease; and how sleep and exercise can improve cognition and brain health. He is active in community-engaged research in and around Newark to promote brain health and Alzheimer’s disease awareness while enrolling community members into one of the largest national studies of aging and Alzheimer’s risk in older African Americans, Pathways to Healthy Aging in African Americans. Outside the lab, he is an avid sea-kayaker, skier, bicyclist, swing dancer, and enthusiast of vintage French Citroën automobiles.

The evening will begin at 7 pm with a WHITE WINE AND CHEESE RECEPTION in the National Opera Center's CHARLES MACKAY STUDIO, with the talk starting promptly at 7:20 pm.
